What causes lightning???

A couple of days ago our car was moving through clouds (yeah, it was very cool!). My family was very worried about the dark cloud. They wondered if lightning can occur in the cloud. This got me thinking how lightning forms. I think this post answers my question.

Lightning begins as static charges in a rain cloud. Winds inside the cloud are very turbulent. Water droplets in the bottom part of the cloud are caught in the updrafts and lifted to great heights where they freeze. Meanwhile, downdrafts in the cloud push ice and hail down from the top of the cloud. When the ice going down meets the water coming up, electrons are stripped off.

The result of this activity is a cloud with a negatively charged bottom and a positively charged top. These electrical fields become incredibly strong, with the atmosphere acting as an insulator between them in the cloud. When the strength of the charge overpowers the insulating properties of the atmosphere, lightning happens.

As the storm moves over the ground, the strong negative charge in the cloud attracts the positive charges in the ground. These positive charges move up into the tallest objects like trees, telephone poles, and houses. As the negative charge gets close to the ground, a positive charge, called a streamer, reaches up to meet the negative charge. The channels connect and we observe the lightning stroke.

Living in a Dystopian World

What usually happens in a dystopian novel? Some brutal government, people living under the influence of cruel leaders, rights being denied to poor, brutal deaths, and so on. And then come the great protagonists. Those who are the saviors of the weak. Those who gather other for change. Those who train, those who fight, those who strive hard, those who survive, and those who sacrifice.

How we love such novels. How we adore the strategy our heroes make?

Well, look around. Once you see a news channel, what do you hear? The same situation,

Some brutal government, people living under the influence of cruel leaders, rights being denied to poor, brutal deaths, and so on.

Look at Kashmir. Look at Turkey. Look at the people who are terrorized by ISIS and other terrorists. Look at the number of people who have died at the hands of terrorists….

When I heard about the attempted coup in Turkey, I couldn’t help noticing the strategic mind behind that. The way they attacked and captured airports and national channel. I mean they tried to take over by making a statement that they have the airports, etc.

By observing the world affairs, I reached to the conclusion that we are at war. We are all fighting for something. We  are all under fear. We are the protagonists. We are the part of  a dystopian world.

For the EIA Report I have to Make Comments on

Seriously, why can’t you have imperfections for me to find out. This report has like 150 pages and whatever fault I find it turns out not to be a flaw.

Feels something like this…

P.S: Don’t worry I still took out  7 to 8 comment. Not so perfect now are you miss perfect!!!

My First Job Experience: Hey I am an Unpaid Intern Now

Yup I got an internship at Pakistan Environmental Protection Agency and I am loving it. There is so much peace, cleanliness, and freedom to put my veil down (when there are no men around). The labs are fantastic and everyone is very respectable. And the library. Oh, its amazing. Its small, cozy, and has free WiFi. And books. All those books about environment.

I hope I love it throughout the way.

Right to Unlimited Internet

“Everyone is entitled to the right to unlimited internet.” (Its made up. But I want it to become an international human right. Seriously :-D)

If you are someone with unlimited internet, you are truly blessed. I was blessed myself until my father (for my sake) changed our internet package from unlimited to limited (but with much higher internet speed). Yeah I know what you are thinking. I did try to reverse his action but then I was told bythe service providers that that package had expired. Oh! You can’t imagine how sad I was. I actually cried. Our limit was 10 GB. Obviously that could not happen so we updated first to a 15 GB package then to 20 GB package.

When you have limited internet package, you feel claustrophobic. You feel depressed. You feel unable to breath.

And then the fear. The constant fear of letting the bill go beyond package. They charge us 100 Rupees for 1 GB extra. So, I use everything very carefully. Even I have to blog carefully as one post costs me some 200 MB. I measure and plan how much internet we have to use daily. Almost 600 MB that is. But still sometimes a lot of internet gets used through mobiles. I usually keep the use of internet to laptop only, but you know can’t restrict your whole family to do so.

I have an app to check my data usage. It looks like this.

In the past few days I was at my uncles house. There I had no headaches. I felt so good to not count my MBs once. To feel freedom. Sweet sweet freedom.
